Mexico to wear red, grey and pink during Premier12 as National Team unveils new uniforms
The Mexican National Baseball Team unveiled their new uniforms to represent the country at the WBSC Premier12 2024 presented by RAXUS, the global baseball battle to take place from 9 to 24 November in Mexico, Taiwan and Japan.
The uniforms were unveiled during a press conference in Mexico City, where Mexico announced a three-year deal with New Era as the National Teams technical sponsor, from U-15 to professional representatives.
"This commercial agreement with New Era, a strategic partner, will last for the next three years," stated Horacio de la Vega, President of the Mexican National Teams Committee. "They will support us with the U-15, U-18, and other senior men’s teams."
The main uniform is red with the country’s name in white letters. The away uniform is gray with touches of Mexican pink, while the alternative set stands out with a pink base, gray details, and cherry blossoms as decoration. The letter “M” features Japanese-inspired typography. All uniforms feature the Mexican flag on the left chest.
“The story behind this uniform is that red was the favourite among our players in the World Baseball Classic, we know they loved the red. It’s part of our flag and represents our country," said Daniel Pérez Padilla, New Era Vice President. "The second is gray with Mexican pink. As you may remember, we had one with Mexican pink in the WBC that was successful both on the field and on the shelves.
"Finally, there’s an alternate uniform inspired by a gift from the Japanese government, which in 1910 donated jacaranda trees to Mexico City," Pérez Padilla added. "This is where the inspiration from Japanese culture comes from, with an eye towards competing in the Premier12 finals in Japan.”
The Mexican National Team caps go on sale from $799 to $999 Mexican Pesos ($40 to $50 US Dollars), while the jerseys cost $1,999 MEX ($100) for men, $1,499 ($75) for women and $1,299 ($65) for children.
