New Cedar Park Library location opens to the public
CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) -- Cedar Park cut the ribbon on its brand new library Friday morning.
The new Cedar Park Public Library is a two-story, 47,000-square-foot facility designed to "deliver a reimagined library experience that provides various learning opportunities and encourages community connections," according to the city.
The new library opened to the public Friday morning after the old library's location closed for half of October so it could move.
City officials said that community priorities for the new library included advanced technology and STEM learning opportunities. Officials promised the library would deliver a growing collection of books and learning resources, including materials in additional world languages and more STEM kits.
The new public library was constructed as part of Cedar Park's Bell District, a 50-acre mixed-use development project planned over a decade ago with a vision of "rejuvenating one of the oldest, primary corridors in the city," per the city's website.
The Bell District will feature restaurants, retail, residences, offices, and greenspace alongside the new library.
