New adaptive playground unveiled in Loudonville
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Southgate Elementary School in the North Colonie Central School District came together on Friday morning for the unveiling of a new adaptive playground in Loudonville. It was built in honor of the late physical education teacher Coach Peter Mravlja.
This playground design creates a more inclusive environment for students, especially those with physical and developmental disabilities. It provides children with the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities during recess to ensure that everyone can participate and have fun together.
The new adaptive playground will be available for community use outside of school hours during the week and on weekends, making it one of the few adaptive playgrounds in the Capital District. To commemorate Coach Mravlja, a baseball jersey-shaped plaque will be displayed on the playground reading, “A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.”
