Rainy, windy start to November around Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- It's a wet and windy start to the month of November around the greater Portland, Vancouver area.
Gusty valley winds will help keep rain showers moving across the region Friday morning, afternoon and evening. Wind gusts could be near 30 mph on Friday as soaking rains continue to fill Portland area rain gauges.
The cloudy and wet weather will help keep temperatures in the low to mid-50s Friday and Saturday. Those wet conditions will linger through the weekend and into the start of next week. November is typically Portland's second rainiest month of the year as average daytime highs sit in the mid-50s. What's felt this November first is typical for a November day.
Snow elevations will remain close to 4,000' in the Cascades. Mountain pass travel will likely be difficult with slicks conditions and accumulating snowfall at times.
Portland area temperatures stabilize over the next seven days as skies slowly begin to dry. Earlier sunrise and sunset hours will return by the end of the weekend as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end early Sunday morning.
