Ange Postecoglou reacts to Tottenham vs Man United Carabao Cup draw
Tottenham Hotspur made progress in the Carabao Cup this week with a win against Man City. Now, Ange Postecoglou has been discussing how his team will navigate the various competitions they are in this season – including a quarter-final draw against Man United.
Tottenham vs Man United Carabao Cup
After scraping past Coventry City in the third round, Spurs were handed one of the toughest tests of all, with a fourth-round tie against Manchester City.
Before the game, City boss Pep Guardiola claimed he would field a heavily-rotated team as he cannot afford to play his best players in the Carabao Cup.
Still, the league champions have a strong squad, and even with a couple of youngsters, Man City still gave Spurs a challenging game. But, Ange Postecoglou‘s men made it through 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr (with a little help from an Yves Bissouma goalline clearance).
Up next is a home tie against Manchester United in the quarter-finals, and there is now a real belief that Spurs can go all the way and win the Carabao Cup.
Postecoglou is happy with the home draw
Discussing that Tottenham vs Man United Carabao Cup draw with Football.London today, Postecoglou revealed how happy he is to be playing at home, but did suggest United’s new manager will be very much in the swing of things by the time the game comes around in December.
He said: “Good draw, it’s a home game. For all clubs, it’s welcome, but no matter who you’re playing it’s going to be tough. [Ruben Amorim] will have his feet firmly under the desk by then, I look forward to meeting him.”
Tottenham have to go strong for the cup now
The Carabao Cup may not be the biggest trophy, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t mean the world to Tottenham fans, and be a significant sign of progress for Postecoglou to win it. It won’t be easy against Man United, but we should go all-out to get a win there and then anything can happen in the semi-finals.
