Western New York residents enjoy warm weather for trick-or-treating

KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Trick-or-treaters were treated to quite the trick this year. Last year's half inch of snow on Halloween was followed by this year's record-high temperatures in the region.
Usually, you'd see kids with layers under their costumes, but they weren't needed Thursday. Parents and children were loving the warm temperatures.
"You wouldn't think it was October 31st," said Kenmore resident Glen Fraccica. "No winter jackets, no winter hats. Everybody could show off their costumes."
A father and daughter duo WIVB News 4 caught up with said they were so excited to be able to walk around while wearing t-shirts in late October.
"Last year was cold, so it was hard to go around everywhere and get as much candy as you can," said Joey Acosta. "This year it's great. We get to go out this year and finally go around the neighborhoods again and see all the nice decorations and houses."
"You get to see other people dress up and not be cold," explained Mia Acosta.
Two brothers WIVB News 4 spoke to had conflicting opinions on what they preferred the weather to be like on the spooky night.
One of them said he enjoys when it's cooler outside, so he doesn't break a sweat in his costume. The other said he prefers to be able to trick-or-treat and not get cold.
WIVB News 4 also asked people if they'd prefer a night like this one compared to a chillier Halloween. Almost all of them answered yes and said it doesn't take away the fun of celebrating the holiday.
"I think it's adding another layer of fun," explained Kenmore resident Ilyssa Hennessy, who was outside handing out candy. "I think it's good for the kids."
"It's perfect weather," said Buffalo resident Chloe Metzger. "I'm not getting rained on or snowed on and that's the best feeling in the world."
