Saratoga Hospital closes Adirondack Urgent Care, expands pulmonary care
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Saratoga Hospital is in the process of closing the Adirondack Urgent Care, 959 Lake George Road, the hospital said Wednesday. The hospital plans to replace the urgent care with the Queensbury Pulmonology practice.
According to the hospital, the closure stems from a decline in patient visits in recent years. Both the hospital and the New York State Department of Health are working together to close the practice in the safest manner.
"Patient visits have declined at the location significantly in the past three years, as other urgent care providers have moved into the community. At the same time, we have seen a growing need for pulmonary care," a representative from the hospital said in a statement.
With an increased need for pulmonary care, the intent is to move the current pulmonary care facility, from Carey Road to the Lake George Road location. The expansion will allow them to add more x-ray and lung function testing.
"This will provide patients the opportunity to get those necessary services in one location in a more timely and integrated manner," the hospital said.
As of Thursday morning, there is no set date for the closure. Saratoga Hospital also has urgent care facilities in Wilton, Malta and Saratoga Springs.
