MORE BENEFICIAL PROGRAMMES, POLICIES IN PIPELINE FOR LAGOSIANS – GOVERNOR’S AIDE
The Lagos State Government has reassured residents that more beneficial programmes and policies are on the way to further provide relief in the face of the biting economic challenges being faced in the country.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen during an interactive session with the media crew of the City of Lagos TV Show.
While reiterating the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to improve the quality of lives in Lagos, Dr. Afolabi said that the laudable initiatives that are already in the pipeline are to further complement the existing ones such as the “Sanwo-Olu Listens Financial Assistance Programme”, “Ilera-Eko Health Care Scheme” that provides citizenry with access to essential healthcare and the “Ounje-Eko” Discount Market that is designed to support communities in Lagos State with affordable food items, amongst others.
Highlighting the activities of the Office, the Special Adviser said that the Office has organised various Community Engagement and Sensitisation Programmes, actively involving key stakeholders such as Community Development Committees (CDCs), Community Development Associations (CDAs), Community Development and Human Rights (CDHR) groups, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
Dr. Afolabi added that these initiatives are held in collaboration with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) and the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to empower and educate citizens on the various programmes, policies and activities of the Government that is beneficial to all the residents in the State.
According to him, “The Governor has consistently supported our mission to bring the dividends of democracy to grassroots communities. Last year, we were able to visit some communities in Badagry, where we distributed palliatives to residents. In addition, we have the Maternal and Child Health Development (MICHD) programme, which provides nutritious food items to support vulnerable pregnant women from Prenatal to Postnatal stages at all the Five Divisions in Lagos State”.
Maintaining that the Office has been able to achieve these through the support of Mr. Governor and Mr. Deputy Governor, he appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadir Obafemi Hamzat for their efforts towards the well-being of residents in the State.
He revealed that efforts are being put in place to host a Breakfast Meeting with the Media officials, reiterating the Office’s commitment to engaging the public and creating awareness about the ongoing Government programmes and policies for all residents of the state.
Emphasising the importance of active civic participation in the diverse and dynamic landscape of Lagos, Afolabi further said, “In an effort to foster transparency and Civic Engagement, the Office is also planning a series of events that will be beneficial to Lagosians during the upcoming Civic Week in November”.
The Special Adviser, however, appealed to Lagosians to remain unwavering in their support for the government and join hands to build the Lagos of our dreams.
