Iranian official condemns ‘Racist Actions’ against Afghan migrants
Ali Rabiei, the Iranian President’s Social Affairs Assistant, has sharply criticized what he described as “racist acts” against migrants in Iran.
On Wednesday, Rabiei posted on the social media platform X, stating that every person, no matter where they are, deserves to have their human dignity respected.
He added that these “ugly racist acts” toward migrants are unjustifiable and are incompatible with the “Iranian spirit.”
Rabiei further expressed, “Just as our hearts tremble if an Iranian girl suffers due to oppression, we should feel the same pain and regret seeing Afghan girls mistreated.”
This statement comes amid an increase in reports of mistreatment of Afghan migrants in Iran, with Iranian state-affiliated media also contributing to sentiments of hostility against Afghan migrants.
Rabiei’s remarks highlight a call for empathy and dignity for all individuals, regardless of nationality. His message urges the Iranian public to reject discriminatory actions, aiming for a more inclusive society that honors both Iranian and Afghan lives.
Afghan refugees in Iran face significant hardships, including discrimination, limited access to jobs, and education barriers. Many endure poor living conditions, and recent hostility has intensified their struggles, highlighting urgent humanitarian and social challenges.
