Defence minister in favour of religious workers in army
The challenges of modern times make having religious workers in the army imperative, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas said on Thursday, adding that their presence over the years represented a deeper moral and spiritual connection, lending support and strength to soldiers and military life.
Addressing an event organised by the religion division at the National Guard general staff, Palmas said the link between the army and religion went back to ancient times and that faith served as a shelter and source of hope.
“Religion works as a moral guide, cultivating the sense of solidarity, devotion and justice,” he added.
