International Round-Up: Scoring Stars Shine For Scotland U23s
It was a mightily impressive international break for the four Hibees out on Scotland duty.
The four players selected for Michael McArdle’s Under-23 squad shone across two friendly matches against Belgium and Czechia.
Kathleen McGovern
Taking her excellent Hibernian goalscoring record with her on international duty, Kathleen McGovern nabbed two goals in two games for the Under-23s.
Gov netted the opener against the Belgians from the penalty spot after leading the line from the off, as the young Scots battled hard for a 2-2 draw in Tubize, Belgium.
Not content with the one notch on her goal tally, the Hibs striker came off the bench and executed an excellent touch and finish to round off Scotland’s 5-1 victory over Czechia at Falkirk Stadium.
Tegan Bowie
Tegan Bowie excelled across both fixtures, contributing to both scoring and providing during the break. The speedy winger started on the wing versus Belgium before making an instant impact off the bench against Czechia.
Bowie raced onto the pitch and, within 23 seconds of her introduction, stabbed in her first goal at Under-23 level to put the young team 4-1 up on the day.
Tegan would continue to cause trouble for the Czech backline as she soon skillfully dribbled past her opponent on the left flank to whip in a cross that would find McGovern and result in Scotland’s fifth goal of the game.
Eilidh Adams
It was the first Under-23 training camp for Eilidh Adams and she was sure to make her mark on her first start with the squad.
The Hibs number nine opened the scoring versus Czechia with a composed finish in the first half to open up her account at Under-23 level and double Scotland’s lead in Falkirk.
Adams would grab her second of the game on 49 minutes, brushing off her marker with ease and excellently firing low beneath the Czech keeper to put Scotland three goals ahead.
Erin Clachers
Goalkeeper Erin Clachers started against Belgium in the first fixture, earning her second appearance at Under-23 level for Scotland.
Erin was an unused substitute during the second friendly match versus Czechia.
