This is why Donald Trump reminds you of an infomercial
The former president has created a universe of kitschy, bad design. This visual language—let’s call it ‘Political Spam’—has impact far beyond Trump’s merch machine.
Most nights, I watch New York City’s PIX11 News at 10. During commercial breaks, I’m hit with the usual onslaught of campaign promos. But what stands out more are the strange Trump-themed infomercials. Most recently, the one for “Trumpy Trout” gave me pause. It’s a talking wall ornament that spouts exaggerated quotes from the 45th president, reinterpreted from a fish’s point of view (e.g., “I am the hugely bigliest fish in the pond”).
