STRICTLY Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has opened up on the “unbearable” pain amid his arthritis battle.
The former Emmerdale actor has been candid in sharing his health struggles – and has now told fans he can “barely walk.”
He has been candid in documenting his condition on Instagram[/caption] Adam was diagnosed with rhematoid arthritis in 2023 – just before his Strictly stint[/caption]Earlier in the month, Adam, 36, told how he had “been in pain every day” for the past two years.
He was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2023 and recently screamed in pain as he filmed himself injecting his treatment.
Now, the Waterloo Road favourite has posted a solemn black and white image showing him taking a selfie while wrapped in a winter coat.
He posted the snap to Instagram alongside a lengthy health update where he disclosed his pain is “a lot worse now.”
In the caption, he wrote: “The pain is pretty unbearable at the moment, it’s as if my whole body is seizing up!!
“The pain was bad before, but it’s a lot worse now… how why???”
Addressing his treatment, he said: “Now I wish I never came off the methotrexate because I would take that pain to this every day of the week!!
“I’ve just started my new medication today which takes 12 weeks to take effect and even then it might not work so am not too sure what I can do to ease the pain until then??
“I’ve had my steroid injections and it literally lasted a week.”
Revealing he will head to the medical ward today for further pain relief, Adam sadly admitted “I cant carry on like this!!”
The dad of two didn’t hold back as he dished out the real-life implications of his condition.
He added: “I couldn’t even get dressed this morning on my own, couldn’t drive to work, I mean I can barely walk and my wrists and fingers feel like they’re broken that’s no exaggeration!
“I wouldn’t have got out of bed today if it wasn’t for work. It got better through out the day with a s**t load of painkillers!
What are the symptoms of Rheumatoid arthritis?
Pain – Patients could suffer with a throbbing and aching pain in their joints. According to the NHS, it may often feel worse in the mornings or after a period of inactivity.
Stiffness – Joints affected by the condition can feel stiff and inflexible. For example, you may not be able to fully bend fingers or form a fist in an affected hand.
Swelling, warmth and redness – Joint linings are also affected by rheumatoid arthritis and they could become inflamed. Joints could then swell, and become hot or tender to touch.
Other symptoms: These can often include tiredness, lack of energy, a high temperature, sweating, a poor appetite and weight loss
“But wow… these last few days have been scary had a little cry to myself today it can just really get on top of you!!
“Am not saying this for a sob story or for sympathy just trying to bring awareness to this disease and what so many others are going through the good the bad the ugly … I’m lucky I have a great support system and not many do so to anyone who is going through the same thing and is alone! I see you you I feel you!!
“It’s going to get better don’t give up x if you know anyone who’s suffering just give them a call and check in x”
His Waterloo Road co-star Chelsee Healey was quick to comment and wrote: “Hope you’re OK Ad.”
The message was followed by a slew of others wishing him well.
Earlier this year, he was left “in tears” after updated medication left him “wiped out.”
The TV star then told how his son was playing a part in looking after him.
