Thunder defense swarms the Spurs to remain undefeated
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) -- It's been an impressive start to the season defensively for the Thunder and it continued Wednesday night in OKC's 105-93 win over San Antonio.
The Thunder held Spurs young star Victor Wembanyama to just 6 points on 1-5 shooting, while holding San Antonio to just 41% shooting and 33% from three. OKC also had 18 steals and forced the Spurs into 22 total turnovers, scoring 27 points off those turnovers.
OKC's offense hasn't been particularly overwhelming to start the season, but it hasn't mattered so far. The Thunder have held three of their four opponents to 95 points or less, while allowing the Hawks to reach just 104 points.
Lu Dort led the way for OKC with 20 points on 7-9 FGs and 6-8 3PT. Chet Holmgren was also super efficient, scoring 19 points on 7-10 FGs. Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was one of OKC's few players to not have efficient night, SGA had 18 points on just 7-20 FGs and 2-10 3PT. Jalen Williams posted a near triple-double with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists, while rookie Ajay Mitchell had 12 points in 22 minutes off the bench.
The Thunder (4-0) now head out on a two-game road trip, taking on the Trail Blazers (2-3) Friday and the Clippers (2-2) on Saturday.
