Warriors vs. Pelicans injury report
CJ McCollum is now out for New Orleans.
After an impressive win on Tuesday night, the Golden State Warriors are running it back on Wednesday night against the same New Orleans Pelicans team. Well, not the exact same team, as the Pelicans won’t have the same group of players available, while the Warriors hope that they’ll have a different rotation tonight.
Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (left peroneal strain)
No surprises here. When the Warriors evaluated Curry’s injury on Monday, they announced that he would miss this game. He’ll be re-evaluated on Friday, ahead of the Dubs’ next game, a Saturday showdown against the Houston Rockets, which kicks off a five-game road trip. Hopefully this is the last time we see him in street clothes for a while.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (right facet inflammation)
At the same time that the Warriors announced Curry’s impending absences, they announced the same timeline for his logical replacement, Melton. Like Curry, Melton will be re-evaluated on Friday, and hopefully be ready for the road trip.
Questionable — Andrew Wiggins (low back strain)
Wiggins was absolutely sensational through the first three games of the season, before a back strain kept him out of Tuesday’s win. The last update from the Warriors is that Wiggins will warm up, and then the team will decide whether or not he’ll play.
Available — Brandin Podziemski (facemask)
Podziemski has spoken about how much he hates playing with the face mask on, but thankfully it doesn’t seem to impact his ability too much.
Pelicans
Out — CJ McCollum (right adductor soreness)
After starting on Tuesday, McCollum has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game. That’s a break for the Warriors, who no longer have to game plan for a player who entered this year with nine straight seasons averaging 20 or more points per game.
Out — Dejounte Murray (left hand fracture)
Murray missed Tuesday’s game, and he’ll miss quite a few more before he gets back on the court for his new team.
Out — Trey Murphy III (right hamstring strain)
Not like the Warriors are going to be doling out many sympathies, but wow, NOLA sure has a lot of backcourt injuries!
Out — Herbert Jones (right shoulder strain)
Like McCollum, Jones got the start against the Warriors on Tuesday. But he was in visible pain after a collision during the game, and now the Pelicans will be without two of their starting five from yesterday’s game.
Questionable — Jordan Hawkins (lower back spasms)
Hawkins isn’t a starter, but he is the third player who appeared for the Pelicans against the Warriors in the first game but might not suit up in the second game.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
