Suspect of Portland, Vancouver ballot box fires may strike again, police warn
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland police have revealed new details related to the suspect possibly connected to the arson of three ballot boxes in Vancouver and Portland in the past month, officials announced in a press conference Wednesday.
PPB spokesperson Mike Benner described the man they believe could have been responsible for destroying hundreds of ballots by targeting a Vancouver ballot box Monday morning.
Authorities said the suspect is a man between 30 and 40 years old who is either bald or has very short hair with a medium-to-thin build, a dark shirt, and a thin face.
“We believe this suspect has a wealth of experience with metal fabrication and welding,” Benner said. Officials later added that, because the suspect remains at large, it's possible he could strike again.
Benner also specified more details related to the previously announced suspect vehicle associated with the crimes on Monday. The car, a black or dark-colored 2001-2004 Volvo S-60, may have “places on it that are more matte in color than a standard shiny finish” and a tan or light gray interior with an after-market grill with the Volvo emblem missing.
Anyone with information related to this suspect is encouraged to contact police.
Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering cash rewards of up to $2,500 cash for any information that leads to an arrest, and tipsters may remain anonymous. To submit information to Crime Stoppers, visit their website.
