Red Sox 2004 Champ Calls Out Yankees After Mookie Betts Incident
Austin Capobianco revealed some surprising news after he got the boot from Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night.
Capobianco was ejected from World Series Game 4 after he interfered with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts in the first inning. However, the New York season-ticket holder later revealed he was permitted to attend Game 5, which is set for Wednesday night in the Bronx.
The update didn’t sit very well with 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series champion Doug Mientkiewicz, who called out the Yankees on social media.
“Heard that the Yankees are allowing these 2 idiots to attend game 5,” the former first baseman posted to X. “Awful look for you Yankees. It’s about as bad as your baserunning and defense. It’s that bad!!”
Unfortunately for Capobianco, his initial Game 5 status might have been wishful thinking. The Yankees on Wednesday issued a statement revealing the 38-year-old and the other fan who were ejected from Game 4 will not be allowed to attend New York’s latest must-win contest.
The Fall Classic showdown will be the Yankees’ final home game of the season regardless of outcome. The Dodgers will either win the World Series on Wednesday or head back to LA with a 3-2 series lead.
