Ari Lennox Asks Her Record Label to Drop Her, Wants to Be Released From Contract
Ari Lennox is making a direct plea to her label, Dreamville/Interscope.
The “Pressure” singer took to Instagram on Tuesday (October 29), where she asked to be released from her contract.
“I don’t know what else to do. I try to do things the right way and no one takes me seriously […] I just want to be released, and it’s just that simple. And I’m tired of being nice, and I was trying to do everything the right way, but now I’m pissed. This was my final straw,” she said, referring to issues behind-the-scenes involving her newest single, “Smoke,” via Vibe.

She described “Smoke” as her “freedom song” and said: “I love making music. I loved every moment of making ‘Smoke’ […] and the label neglected me. They left me there by myself […] I refuse to drop an album that nobody’s gonna listen to or my label isn’t gonna promote or market.”
On her Instagram Story, she also shared a statement.
“Interscope and Dreamville have been playing with me all month and I’m so exhausted. I’m so tired of people treating me like they’re sorry for me and like I’m the face of mental health. I’m ok and I’ve never been happier,” she wrote. “What I don’t like is being signed and lied to and manipulated. Not one person at those labels ever knew how to market or protect me. Y’all don’t know the half. Constant let down and neglect. This industry stuff will never be for me.”
Her remarks come just weeks after she announced she was leaving social media at the end of 2024, saying she’d be permanently deleting her Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
She previously expressed frustrations after a loss at the Soul Train Awards.
