Josh Allen treats Bills QBs to World Series game, roots for "whoever's playing the Dodgers"
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The captain of New York's NFL team treated his fellow quarterbacks to Game 4 of the World Series in the Bronx on Tuesday night.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen was spotted in the crowd during the New York Yankees' 11-4 win that prevented the Los Angeles Dodgers from winning the title in a sweep. Allen could be heard saying he was flying back to Buffalo immediately after the game.
At practice Wednesday, Allen revealed that he took the Bills quarterbacks to the game.
"The game was awesome. We went as a quarterback group. Mike White's a big Yankees fan. So, wanted to treat the boys to something nice," Allen said. "They've been helping me out in the quarterback room all year. It's something we've talked about, and pulled the trigger on. Decided to take a quick trip there, and made it back in time for meetings."
The quarterbacks on the Bills roster include Allen and backup Mitch Trubisky, practice squad QB Mike White, and Shane Buechele on injured reserve.
Allen was also asked about his baseball fandom after sporting a Yankees hat at the game. His answer did his central California roots proud.
"I'm a fan of whoever's playing the Dodgers," said Allen, who hails from Firebaugh, about 45 minutes west of Fresno. "I grew up a Giants fan, right. I still love the Blue Jays. But yeah, [the Yankees trailed in the series] 3-0, rooting for the underdog. Obviously, we're the only [NFL] team in New York, so supporting our local teams. Gotta love it. Hopefully they can scratch and claw their way back into this thing."
Game 5 of the World Series is Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. If the Yankees win, the series will head back to Los Angeles.
Allen's trip wasn't the first time a member of the Bills organization traveled to watch a nearby World Series game. Rex Ryan took coaches to Game 7 of the 2016 World Series in Cleveland, but infamously left before the extra-inning game concluded, with Ryan's Cubs victorious.
