A bewildered driver watches as the man tumbles over and holds his arm, seemingly pretending to be in pain.
He can then be heard laughing and shouting at the man: “I’ve got a dash camera.”
The driver then jokingly asks if the fallen Londoner needs “medical help” before driving off as he continues to laugh.
It is unclear what followed the so-called collision and if any action was taken.
The Sun has contacted the Metropolitan Police for confirmation of the incident.
At the start of the short clip the man can be seen waiting at a set of traffic lights to cross the road.
As the van turns the corner and approaches the lights – which are still green – the man makes a daring rush across the road.
The driver spots the man and drastically slows down before coming to a standstill.
Despite his plan clearly being ruined, the bloke decides to leap in the air as his arm briefly brushes over the bonnet.
The footage was shared on social media and has already gained over 380,000 views.
It appeared to take place on High Holborn street on September 23.
It comes as a woman was caught throwing herself in front of a speeding van in another alleged crash-for-cash insurance scam.
Dashcam footage shows the alleged conwoman hovering near a fence before running towards the vehicle clasping her handbag.
How to avoid cash for crash scams
- Get a dashcam – it could be vital to prove who was at fault
- Take lots of pictures – including of any damage and of the other vehicle’s number plate
- Make notes – take down the other person’s name, address, insurance provider and a description of their motor
- Ask around – see if you can get hold of witnesses and dashcam/CCTV/doorbell footage from others
- Reach out – tell your insurer about the crash and report any suspicious collisions to the IFB
