Ace Flagg Commits To Maine
It’s a great choice for Ace and his family too
Basketball twins are almost always interesting. The first significant ones we’re aware of were Tom and Dick Van Arsdale. More recently we’ve seen the Grants (Horace and Harvey), the Morrises (Markieff and Marcus), the Diaz Graham twins at Pitt (Guillermo and Jorge), the Cavender twins at Miami and of course the Boozer twins, Cameron and Cayden, who just recently committed to Duke.
They’re fraternal twins rather than identical and their talents are different. Cameron is a big guy and Cayden is a point guard.
And of course Cooper Flagg and his brother Ace, like the Boozers, are fraternal twins and their trajectories have been quite different.
Cooper has been seen as a rising star for some time while Ace has not been as highly regarded. However, he’s a promising basketball player in his own right. And on Tuesday he announced his own college decision, saying he’s going home to Maine.
And that’s kind of cool. He had other options to be sure. He could have gone to a more highly regarded program like West Virginia, Richmond, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Joe’s, and George Washington.
But he likes the idea of going home. We understand his grandparents still live in the area and he no doubt has a lot of friends on campus. It gives him a great chance to reconnect and to help Maine build something special. And all in all, that’s a pretty great option.
