‘Unstoppable’ trailer: Jharrel Jerome and Jennifer Lopez star in inspirational sports drama
The inspiring true story of champion wrestler Anthony Robles is getting the big screen treatment courtesy of Oscar-winning editor William Goldenberg and producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
Set to debut on Amazon Prime Video in January following a limited theatrical run in December to qualify for awards consideration, “Unstoppable” stars Emmy-winning actor Jharrel Jerome as Robles, a world-class wrestler who was born with one leg. Jennifer Lopez stars as Robles’ mother, Judy Robles.
Based on the book “Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion” by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy and written by Eric Champnella, Alex Harris, and John Hindman, “Unstoppable” focuses on Robles’s rise through college athletics and how he found success despite his troubled home life due to an abusive stepfather. Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle, and Michael Pena co-star.
Goldenberg, the Oscar-winning editor of “Argo” who has also been nominated for “The Insider,” “Seabiscuit,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” and “The Imitation Game” makes his directorial debut with “Unstoppable,” which was produced by Affleck and Damon through their Artists Equity production shingle.
