‘On Call’ first look: Lori Loughlin is back in new Dick Wolf police drama
Lori Loughlin is “On Call” for Dick Wolf. The “Full House” alum is among the actors starring on Amazon’s “On Call,” Wolf Entertainment’s first scripted streaming series. All eight episodes of “On Call” will be released on Thursday, Jan. 9 on Prime Video, the streamer announced Wednesday.
Co-created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf and described as an “adrenalized and visceral police drama,” the half-hour police drama follows a rookie and veteran duo as they patrol Long Beach, Calif. The series will incorporate a “mixture of bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage to create a cinema verité effect” and explores “the morality of protecting and serving a community,” per the logline.
“Pretty Little Liars” alum Troian Bellisario plays Traci Harmon,” a hard-charging but protective veteran officer who struggles to find her place in the department while training the next generation of officers. Brandon Larracuente (“The Good Doctor”) plays Alex Diaz, an ambitious rookie whose optimistic outlook is challenged by the less-than-rosy reality. Loughlin plays Lieutenant Bishop, while “ER”‘s” Eriq La Salle, who’s also an executive producer and director, plays Sergeant Lasman and Rich Ting (“Tulsa King”) plays Sergeant Koyama.
“On Call” marks Loughlin’s first new series regular role since the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal. The actress was released from prison in December 2020 after serving two months of her sentence. She has since returned to TV by reprising her role in “When Hope Calls” and parodying herself and the scandal in a guest spot on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” earlier this year.
