Rain chances ramp up through the next few days
(KLFY) -- After weeks of dry weather, it appears we may finally get some rain through the next few days.
A ridge of high pressure has moved the jet stream away from us, which has kept both fronts and rain at bay. This is put most of the area in the moderate-to-severe drought.
A trough of low pressure is going to move to the north of us tomorrow and Friday, but it will move close enough to drive a surface front near the area. The front is not going to be strong enough to move through, but it will bring us higher rain chances for tomorrow and possibly Friday. Rainfall totals could be in the 1-3 inch range in isolated hot spots.
The front lifts back north for the weekend leading to a reduction in rain chances and the continuation of warm temperatures.
We may get enough shot at a front mid-next week as another strong trough moves into the area.
