I-49 southbound back open after crash in North Lafayette
UPDATE, 10:30 a.m.: Lafayette Police said I-49 has been cleared and is back open to traffic.
ORIGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- If you're heading into Lafayette from the north on I-49, you may experience a delay this morning.
A crash on southbound I-49 has closed the interstate in North Lafayette and has caused delays, authorities said.
Lafayette Police Department said it is closing southbound I-49 at Gloria Switch Road to divert traffic from the interstate to remove an 18-wheeler from the median near Pont Des Mouton Road.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development earlier said the left lane was blocked at the crash site near Pont des Mouton Road.
Motorists are urged to seek an alternate route. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
