Savvy EastEnders fans think that the New Year special of the BBC soap, which is being filmed currently, could see three characters making their come back.
Director Christopher McGill has left a major clue for New years filming, with fans wondering if it could see a trip to Germany[/caption] Christopher has previously hinted at the drama in store for the New Years episodes[/caption]EastEnders director Christopher McGill has shared a clue that has seen fans guessing that scenes in the New Years special could see some of the EastEnders gang further afield than Watford.
The director posted to X as he wrote: “One Day Left to shoot on @bbceastenders New Year Episodes. #Eastenders #Caution #Danger”.
Alongside the post he shared a black and white photograph which included German writing.
Now to the untrained eye, this might have meant nothing but it’s got EastEnders fans speculating over whether it could bring back three characters to screens.
Liam Butcher, Tiffany Butcher-Baker and husband Keegan Butcher-Baker were last seen in Albert Square in 2022 before they made their exit to go and live in Germany.
Fans have already guessed that these three could be involved as one replied: “Achtung, filming in Germany then?”
Another shared: “German. Don’t Ricky butcher and Liam, Tiffany and Keegan live in Germany??”
A fan also asked Christopher: “I know you probably won’t be able to answer this question.. But could you describe the new years episodes in 5 words?”
Careful not to give anything away, the director replied: “Bold. Heartwarming. Heartbreaking. Epic. Eastenders.”
This isn’t the first time Christopher has shared cryptic clues about the BBC soap’s filming, leaving fans guessing.
In one recent post on X, he hinted that one character could be reaching the “end of the pier”.
Sharing an image of a closed set for EastEnders filming, Christopher wrote online: “Day Fourteen of @bbceastenders New Years Episodes #EndOfThePier.”
The cryptic message has appeared to hint at a major plot involving a pier of some sort.
Teasing further, Chris appeared to suggest that “railway lines” could also be involved in what they have planned.
It seems that the epic episodes have taken a total of two weeks to film with Chris previously confessing that his daily rundown was in relation to the “monstrous block” of New Year episodes that were being recorded.
The New Year episodes will come off the back of a “sad and tragic” Christmas on Albert Square.
In a new interview with RadioTimes.com, actor Shane Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, revealed: “I sat there watching this story unfolding in the Queen Vic that happens on Christmas Day, and as a fan of the show anyway, I was like, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe this! Stop!'”
He continued: “I had to do a line and I kept messing it up because I was so taken in with that the storyline that was happening.”
As he added that viewers are “in for a treat” on Christmas Day, he teased that the new storylines will leave BBC viewers in shock.
