MAGA world fumes as Biden says: 'Only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters'
Fox News and Donald Trump fans on X pounced Tuesday on Joe Biden’s response to racist remarks about Puerto Rico that emerged from Trump’s New York City rally – a presidential reaction that also lit up MAGA world on social media.
“And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage,’" Biden said Tuesday night. “Well, let me tell you something…the only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters."
Biden later clarified his comment on social media Tuesday night.
“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporters at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage — which is the only word I can think of to describe it. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation,” Biden posted on X.
Trump supporters on Fox News and beyond used the moment to denounce the president’s opinion on the matter.

“Wow,” conservative radio host Dana Loesch said on Fox News. “The orderlies need to be notified. He has gotten loose, Joe Biden has gotten loose. Wow. There goes the 'live, laugh love' campaign of Harris and post-Biden, there goes the dignity in the White House.”
She added that Harris should “repudiate” Biden’s response, which she said is “completely the opposite of everything this campaign has been lecturing about from the get-go.”
Fox News host Jesse Watters suggested that Biden’s comments were reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 “deplorable moment," a comparison echoed by other conservatives throughout social media.
“It is the deplorables moment again,” entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary said on Watters’ show. “I’m really surprised he said that because when you’re called human garbage, it motivates you to get off your rear end and get off the sofa and go vote.”
“Kamala's boss just called 80+ million Americans garbage. I'm sure she'll be asked about this tomorrow,” Alberto E. Martinez, a former chief of staff to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), posted on X.
Vivek Ramaswamy told his followers on X that Biden’s comments were “not a bad October surprise.”
“You may think it’s his cognitive impairment, but it smells more like an ingenious way to inflict long-overdue revenge on Kamala,” he wrote.
Republicans are intentionally taking Biden’s comments tonight out of context,” wrote Democratic pollster and strategist Matt McDermott on X. “The transcript is clear: he was referring to the ‘garbage’ spewed by the racist comedian. Shame on anyone taking this out of context.”
