Dartford Academy Under-16s get a helping hand from first team
Ady Pennock took the Academy Under-16s through their paces in a special training session last week.
The first team manager and goalkeeping coach Les Cleevely passed on their vast experience in the game during an evening session with the team they devised especially.
Ady’s session was built around passing combinations and first touch working in small areas, and teamwork drills. First team goalkeeping coach Les took the development goalkeepers for their own session, with body shape and positioning among the highlights.
Head of Dartford Youth Academy Russell Searle enthused: “It was great to see Ady and Les take a session.
“Ady has a Uefa Pro-Licence and Les has coached at Chelsea and at international level, so to see their delivery as coaches was a great experience for everyone.
“The boys really enjoyed Ady’s session and were really engaged. To have him take time out to talk to and coach the boys was brilliant from a club perspective, not just for them individually. And the keepers loved working with Les, to have that different perspective of someone who has worked all over was amazing for them, even small details like how high their hands should be and body positioning will be invaluable.
“Our thanks to Ady and Les for giving up their time to support us.”
