Local restaurant owner donates today's profits to family left homeless after Hurricane Helene
ACADIANA (KLFY) -- A local restaurant owner is donating a portion of sales made on Tuesday, Oct. 29, to help a family left living in a tent after Hurricane Helene.
Tim Metcalf owns three Dean-O's Pizza locations, two Prejean's restaurants, and a Viva La Waffle.
Metcalf said the family is currently living in a tent in North Carolina with two young infants, and it's about to snow.
"I got an 18-wheeler of stuff we sent to Florida, and then I was made aware there's something still in North Carolina, and it pulled at my heartstrings," Metcalf said.
Metcalf says it will take $18,000 to buy a camper for the family.
"I'm going to put diapers, toys, and Christmas gifts in there. We're going to show them what Cajun people can do, and I know we're going to be able to raise the money," Metcalf said.
Metcalf calls the event a "give back" event.
"It's all day whether you want to pick it up, eat in, or however you want to do it," Metcalf said.
Once again, that's all day Tuesday, Oct. 29, only.
"I'm serious about this. I'm just pretending everybody who is coming is coming to give. You don't have to say anything; just come on," he said.
Metcalf said he's working with Bead Busters on getting the camper from Acadiana to North Carolina.
