Baby powder removed from shelves nationwide: FDA
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- You might want to check your baby powder.
A nationwide recall has been expanded for Dynacare Baby Powder after the FDA discovered certain batches could be contaminated with asbestos.
Asbestos is a dangerous substance that could lead to health problems and increased risk of developing lung cancer and mesothelioma, according to the CDC.
The FDA says the recall is specifically for item numbers 4875 (14 oz. bottles) and 4874 (4 oz. bottles).
You can check your baby powder by locating the item number at the bottom of the bottle.
If you have purchased one of the recalled products, you can contact Dynarex Corporation at 888-396-2739 or 845-365-8200 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time for questions or information on how to return the product and receive a full refund.
Dynarex Corporation will also respond to emails directed to recall@dynarex.com.
The FDA says there have been no illnesses reported to date. If you observe any adverse events, you can submit a report to the FDA's MedWatch online or by downloading and completing the form and sending it via fax at 1-800-FDA-0178.
