Warriors vs. Pelicans injury report
Golden State is missing a lot of key players.
The Golden State Warriors are getting ready to kick off a rare home back-to-back against the New Orleans Pelicans, as they seek to bounce back from their first loss of the year on Sunday. It won’t be easy though, as the Warriors are missing some of their most important players. But they won’t get many sympathies from the Pelicans, as NOLA is down a few key players as well.
Here’s the full injury report for tonight’s game, which kicks off at 7:00 p.m. PT.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (left peroneal strain)
This isn’t new news for the Dubs. During Monday’s off day, the Warriors announced that Curry would miss both halves of the back-to-back, and would be re-evaluated on Friday before the team begins a five-game road trip. Heal up, Steph!
Out — Andrew Wiggins (low back strain)
Curry isn’t the only Warriors All-Star who will miss the game. Wiggins, who has been excellent to start the season and was far and away the team’s best player during Sunday’s loss, will also be sidelined. Backs are finicky, so hopefully he’s back soon.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (right facet inflammation)
Like Wiggins, Melton will miss time with an upset back. And, like with Curry, the Warriors have already announced that Melton will also miss Wednesday’s game, and will be re-evaluated on Friday.
Available — Brandin Podziemski (facemask)
Podz will likely remain on the injury report until his facemask comes off following a preseason broken nose. But it doesn’t seem to be threatening to keep him out of games at the moment.
Pelicans
Out — Dejounte Murray (left hand fracture)
Murray was a sneaky-good pickup for the Pelicans this offseason, but unfortunately his NOLA tenure got off to an awful start, as he broke his hand in the season opener. He underwent surgery, and is expected back in around a month or so.
Out — Trey Murphy III (right hamstring strain)
Murphy had a very strong season last year, which earned him a four-year, $112 million rookie extension right at the deadline. Unfortunately he has yet to play this year, and is still more than a week away from returning to the court.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
