Brent Venables Discusses Variety of Topics Ahead of Maine
Brent Venables met the media for his weekly availability on Tuesday. And while it's not the highest ranked foe OU will see all season, the third year Sooner head coach held his longest availability of the season. An hour and six minutes amid a three game skid.
No topic was off limits. Venables detailed how difficult it is to take an analyst like Kevin Johns and insert him as a quarterback coach.
Venables announced that freshman offensive lineman Isaiah Autry-Dent will be added to the two-deep and will likely play against Maine. That while announcing tackle Jacob Sexton will miss "a little while." Jake Taylor's status is also up in the air which led Venables to say, "We can't just crap another tackle in the middle of the season."
Venables also answered questions about his job security saying that he and AD Joe Castilgione still have weekly meetings and that Joe C still has confidence in him as head coach.
He also answered questions about the future of Jackson Arnold after what's been a bumpy road as starting quarterback.
Oklahoma meets Maine at 1:30 pm Saturday inside Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
