JD Vance to visit Austin for episode of Rogan podcast
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance will appear in Austin Wednesday to record an episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast — following in Donald Trump's footsteps on the show — a Vance spokesperson told NewsNation's Libbey Dean.
Trump came to the Texas capital Friday for an episode of Rogan's show. He also held a media event near Austin's airport where he spoke about border security.
Rogan's podcast, described on his website as “a long form conversation,” is the most popular program on Spotify, the streaming company previously said. The show had more than 14.5 million subscribers on Spotify as of March and more than 17 million on YouTube.
Rogan said on X that he's asked Kamala Harris' team for an interview with the Democratic presidential nominee but the two sides haven't been able to agree on the specifics of a date and time.
"For the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast. They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen," Rogan wrote on X Monday night.
Texas has been a popular spot for both presidential candidates as they head into the final stretch before Election Day on Nov. 5.
Harris held a campaign rally in Houston on Friday night, focusing on reproductive freedom and calling on Texans to vote.
