David Charlton, CEO of David’s Salon, dies
MANILA, Philippines – David Charlton, the founder and CEO of popular beauty salon chain David’s Salon, has died, the chain’s official Facebook page announced on Tuesday night, October 29.
Charlton was born in Suderland, in Tyne and Wear, England, in 1955, coming from a family of hairdressers, according to the chain’s about page.
He started working full-time at the age of 16 at his uncle’s salon. While working, he was able to finish school within three years, later passing the City and Guilds of London Institute Examination in Men’s and Ladies’ Hairdressing with distinction.
Charlton came to the Philippines in 1978, and later became the manager and sole owner of Rever Salon.
He established David’s Salon in 1989, with a goal of offering quality hairdressing at an affordable price. The first branch was located in New Farmer’s Market in Cubao, Quezon City, which has now expanded to over 200 branches, including a few international ones.
