Spurs and Liverpool target has release clause of over £83 million
One of the players Tottenham are tracking ahead of January has a release clause in his contract, but the problem is that it is exceedingly high.
Tottenham keen on South American centre-back
Palmeiras wonderkid Vitor Reis has won many admirers since breaking into the Brazilian club’s first-team and he is now being linked with a move to the Premier League.
Earlier this month, TBR Football revealed that Spurs and Arsenal were among the young defender’s admires, with both clubs plotting a January move for him.
A few days ago, his agent Claudio Fiorito confirmed that the 18-year-old is ready to make the step up to Europe but made it clear that he had his heart set on moving to a side which can offer him Champions League football (CNN Brazil).
Release clause revealed for Vitor Reis
NossoPalmeiras have now reported on Reis’ future, revealing that Liverpool are also eyeing a move for the young centre-back.
It is asserted that the Reds have identified the teenager as the man to eventually take over from Virgil van Dijk when the Dutchman moves on.
However, the report says that the South American starlet has a huge release clause in his contract, which stands at a whopping €100 million (£83.3m).
Release clause will not be met
Palmeiras would have added such a release clause to protect themselves but they would realise that there is no way they are getting even half of that amount for a player who has not even had a full season of senior football under his belt.
The Brazilian club will likely find it difficult to turn down offers of around £25m-£30m for Reis in January.
