Heung-min Son breaks his own record by picking up prestigious prize
Heung-min Son has created history, with the Tottenham man once again being the recipient of an award that he has monopolised over recent years.
Records keep tumbling for Heung-min Son
Son is closer to the end of his career than the beginning and he is now at a stage where huge numbers and records keep tumbling.
The Tottenham man recently clocked an unbelievable 250 goal contributions for Spurs over his nine-and-half-year stay at the club.
The South Korean is nearing Tottenham’s all-time assist record, which is currently held by Darren Anderton, and he continues to move up the list of the club’s all-time goalscorers.
Son picks up big award yet again
The Spurs captain has now been adjudged the AFC Asian International Player of the Year for 2024, the award given to the best player of Asian descent or one who plays his club football in Asia.
Son has now won the award for a record fourth time in a row, after picking up the prize in 2021, 2022, and 2023 as well.
This is not the only Asian football award that the 32-year-old can win this year, with Son being the clear favourite to take home the Best Footballer in Asia award, which is basically the Asian Ballon d’Or.
Asia’s best of all time
There can be little doubt that Son is now the best player we have ever seen from Asia.
While some other stars like Ji Sung-Park, Keisuke Honda and Hidetoshi Nakata might have won more trophies, it would be hard for anyone to argue that any of them were as good as Son, given the Spurs man’s ridiculous numbers.
However, there is no doubt that the Tottenham star would have a burning desire to seal his legacy by leading the Lilywhites to silverware.
