Rate of spending state budget drops
The rate of implementation of the state budget for 2024 slipped slightly compared to 2023, the state treasury said on Tuesday.
For the period January to September 2024, only 68 per cent of projected revenues had been actually collected, while only 59 per cent of expenditures were made.
The respective rates for the same period of 2023 were 71 per cent and 64 per cent.
According to the treasury, the rate of execution of development spending during 2024 remained at 37 per cent.
At the end of September of this year, total revenues came to €7.72 billion, accounting for 68 per cent of the budget. Actual expenditures came to €7.94 billion or 59 per cent of the budget.
On the revenues side, indirect taxes accounted for 39 per cent of all revenues collected. Direct taxes made up 35 per cent of revenues collected.
Regarding expenditures, the public payroll (including pensions and wage-related benefits) comprised 29 per cent of actual expenditures.
During the period in question, spending on welfare benefits came to €1.33 billion.
