Truck ramming ‘terror attack’ leaves 35 injured as lorry slams into Israeli bus stop on day of Oct 7 massacre memorial

DOZENS of people have been injured after a truck rammed into a bus stop outside an Israeli army base in a suspected terror attack.

At least six were left in serious condition in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv, as Israel marked a national day of mourning for those killed in the October 7 massacre last year.

Police said the truck driver was shot and “neutralised” by armed civilians in the area.

They are investigating a possible motive but suspect it was a terror attack, The Times of Israel reports.

The attack happened outside an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) base in Glilot.

A bus had reportedly stopped at the station outside the base to drop off passengers when the truck rammed into the stop, and those waiting there.

Many of those injured were OAPs who had just evacuated a bus to visit a nearby museum, according to local media reports.

Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital said one of the victims is in very serious condition and undergoing surgery.

“His life is in danger and he is currently being treated in an operating room,” The Times of Israel reports.

The attack happened today as Israel marks a national day of mourning for the victims of October 7 – following the one-year anniversary tributes a few weeks ago.

It was approved earlier this month – to be held on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei — three days after the Simhat Torah holiday, which is when the Hamas attack took place.

The official mourning period began this morning at 6.29am, which is when the Hamas rampage began.

Some 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals died on October 7 while over 250 more were kidnapped into Gaza.

Today’s attack could stoke escalating tensions in the region which are already running high after Israel’s attack on Iran on Saturday morning.

Magen David Adom – Israel’s emergency service – has taken 35 victims to hospital.

The figure includes six in serious condition, five in moderate condition and 20 who are lightly hurt, MDA has said.

They said in a statement: “At 10:08 AM, a report was received in MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Center in the Yarkon Region of a truck hitting a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon.

“MDA EMTs and Paramedics are currently providing medical treatment on site to dozens of casualties.”

The IDF launched three waves of airstrikes at Iran overnight on Saturday, blitzing missile production bases and military strongholds.

Some four Iranian soldiers were killed, according to state news agency Tasnim News.

Israel said it was hitting back at a missile barrage from Tehran on October 1, and attacks by its proxy groups across the region since October 7 last year.

Israel’s security cabinet is set to hold a crunch meeting today to discuss “the Israeli attack on Iran and the possibility of an Iranian response,” an Israeli official told CNN.

Meanwhile the IDF continues to blitz targets in both Lebanon and Gaza.

They said this morning that a former school compound inside Gaza City was targeted after gathering intelligence about Hamas terrorists operating at the site.

And overnight, IDF fighter jets reportedly hit several Hezbollah strongholds and an arms depot in Beirut, the army claimed.

The IDF launched an operation against Lebanon earlier this month to attack Hezbollah and push the terror group away from the border to allow displaced Israelis to return.

Over 2,500 people in Lebanon have been killed in the weeks since Israel began its strikes.

Israeli authorities have said 59 people have been killed in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights.

More than 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza so far and over 96,000 injured, according to local health centre figures.
