Two Tottenham players edging closer to yellow card suspensions
Two Tottenham players are now just two cautions away from being suspended for one Premier League game.
Premier League’s suspension rules
According to the rules, players who pick up five yellow cards in the first half of the season will be suspended for one league game.
That means that two of Tottenham’s regulars cannot afford to pick up two more yellows within the next 11 league matches if they are to avoid a suspension. This will be a source of concern for Ange Postecoglou.
The Spurs players under threat
According to the Premier League’s official website, both Rodrigo Bentancur and Micky van de Ven are now on three yellow, putting them dangerously close to a suspension.
The Dutchman would feel hard done at receiving a caution against West Ham following his altercation with Mohammed Kudus, who got sent off after slapping Van de Ven and shoving Pape Sarr in the face.
Meanwhile, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison are now on two yellow cards, putting them three cautions away from a suspension.
Tottenham’s disciplinary record has improved
At this point last season, there was a bit of concern among fans about the team’s poor disciplinary record, with the Spurs players picking up cards left, right, and centre at the time.
However, that is something that Postecoglou has clearly managed to resolve as evidenced by the extremely low card count this season, even for the likes of Cristian Romero.
