The Best Possible Outcome for Democrats: A Trump Win
Back in July, I wrote a column titled “What If? Biden Edition.” It ran through the possibilities around Biden’s choices after his disastrous debate. A couple weeks after the column, Pelosi and her left-wing cabal confronted the ailing president. After Pelosi’s strong-arming, the president decided to step aside. While terrible for Joe Biden, the decision really was best for the Democrats, even if they’re currently miserable with the un-democratically selected Kamala Harris. Why? This election is taking out the dead weight in the Democratic Party all at once and gives them a real chance in four years.
Before getting to that, here’s what I said:
…The idea of the Biden clan letting $160 million campaign dollars out of their meaty paws is almost impossible to fathom, but work with me here.
There are benefits to this play. First, if Kamala Harris loses (she would, she’s terrible), that would take out the second-worst politician on the Democrat side and clear the field of two terrible candidates.
Democrats are going to have to contend with her spine-tingling hyena-like bark as the “leader of the Democrat Party” as the Drudge headline blares today. If Biden stays on and then loses, Kamala is instantly the front-runner. No one likes her, but she possesses two key characteristics that will make the Democrat base (aka single women) happy: she is partially black and she’s female.

Another benefit to Biden if Kamala is the candidate and loses: It makes him look better. Hey, he was just giving the party what they wanted. They thought she had a better chance. They were wrong. Biden and his supporters can all pretend that he was the stronger candidate. It gives everyone a way to save face.
Finally, it gives Democrats fuel for their Antifa and BLM rage: See, America is still racist and sexist (is that still a thing with transgenders? Oh, never mind, we’re in fantasy land anyway here) and deserves to be destroyed. The problem with this play is that it feels played out. The ante would have to be raised. It will be anyway, if Biden loses, but it would be of a magnitude worse if the psychotic women that make up the Dem party cut loose from their moorings.
It took a bit of time, but the hagiography of the media around Kamala Harris couldn’t hold. She is what she always was: an incompetent, dull-witted woman who achieved her success through horizontal negotiations and pretty privilege. Every time she talks, American voters wince. Every advertisement is a herculean effort in combatting full-body cringe reactions. To Scott McKay’s point: Kamala Harris isn’t having fun, her campaign isn’t having fun, and good grief, her voters aren’t having fun. She’ll get plenty of votes simply because she has ovaries, but even Biden polled better among women than Harris is now.
It’s a cataclysmic political outcome. Except, it’s not.
Should Harris win, it will be worse for the Democrats (and America, but we’re talking politics only for the moment). Consider, if she wins, after four disastrous years, she’ll be crowding out other, more able candidates. By losing, the Democrats can regroup and find someone who actually has a chance against JD Vance and/or Ron DeSantis, two young and capable politicians waiting in the wings.
Boom! With both Biden and Harris gone, two of the worst politicians in recent memory, the Democrats are free to remake themselves. The question is this, though: will they?
Radical politics has disgusted American voters. Unfettered immigration, playing footsie with terrorists, DEI, transing children and taking away parental rights, and assuming that abortion is the animating social issue for most Americans has alienated voters.
Here’s the Democrats’ mistake: They mistook personal freedom as a value (which most Americans have) as the only value or the highest value Americans hold. That is not the case. Americans have nuanced views around personal freedom and what it means.
Americans value economic freedom, and that means having a job and being able to afford to live without crippling inflation. It means being able to buy a house — not with money from the government but because they have enough money to save to buy one.
Americans value being able to speak freely. They are tired of the self-censorship everywhere. The younger generation of men, in particular, will not accede to the nannying of the speech police. They’re in full-on rebellion.
Americans value American lives. Foreign adventurism and interfering with conflicts that are pointless and endless frustrate American taxpayers. Sending billions overseas when flood victims suffer in North Carolina or fire victims suffer in Maui or train-spill victims suffer in Ohio outrages the sensibilities of honest taxpayers. It’s grossly unfair and betrays a callous disregard for one’s own citizens that is breathtaking in its brazenness. Usually, politicians at least feign caring — not Joe or Kamala. They wear their contempt with pride.
Americans value the innocence of children and the freedom to parent without school bureaucrat interference. They also value safety and fairness for their daughters. The trans trend has cheated young women out of their well-earned accomplishments in service to misogynistic men who are aided and abetted by a distorted ideology infecting the minds of the young. Sanctuary states where one parent can run away with a child or children can be taken from loving parents inspire fear in voters.
Americans value equal opportunity and free choice rather than equal outcomes because they know those are impossible. On the one hand, leftists want to trumpet loudly about radical individualism as if every citizen lives in a bubble of his own making and doesn’t interact with the world. On another, leftists want each of these bubble-wrapped individuals to enjoy exactly equal outcomes no matter their life choices. These two things cannot coexist. An individual who decides to dope himself up, become a male prostitute, and contract various diseases is not going to experience the same outcomes as an individual who works hard, saves his money, and buys a house. The output is determined by the input. Americans know this, and so DEI, which promotes “equity,” aka equal outcomes, and is prejudiced against white people, no matter their socioeconomic status, outrages them. DEI may get dismantled, but it will take a long time for this infection to leave the bloodstream of corporate America and various government agencies.
Americans value freedom of religion and association. Despite the godless heathens running the Left, most Americans, even if they themselves don’t believe in God, believe in their fellow citizens’ right to choose to worship and believe in God. They don’t scorn belief. They have their own. Kamala Harris has been the poster child for disrespectful atheistic leftism — outright insulting Catholics and other God-believers and telling them that they don’t belong.
The Democrats can, if they shed some of this risible behavior and their unhelpful political stances, move back to more normalcy. After four years of Trump making America great again, trust that establishment Republicans will be ready and willing to triangulate and make deals with any squishy Republican or Clinton-esque Democrat who comes along.
Democrats can be counted on to be evil. Republicans can be counted on to play with the devil for their own personal gain. Some Republicans would prefer to be out of power if they find it more personally enriching. It’s how Biden accomplished as much as he has these last four horrible years.
None of that happens if Kamala wins. Should she win, the despair will deepen, the psychotic drive to the socially fascist left will continue, and more able politicians will be crowded out and for longer.
Yes, it is always better to win and keep power. Sometimes, though, one needs to cut his losses to fight another day. That’s the choice before Democrats. While some Dems might be sad they didn’t leave Biden at the top of the ticket, that would have been worse. Biden would have lost, but they’d have to contend with Kamala in four years as the ostensible front-runner. That problem is being solved right now.
For Republicans, a Kamala loss means facing a strong opponent in four years, for no one could be weaker than she. The GOP will have to accomplish something for once. They’ll have to work with their president and stop trying to hamstring him, as McCain and McConnell did the first time around.
Americans who see a GOP fighting for them and working with the president and upholding all the freedoms they value will win again. If the GOP torpedoes Trump, they’ll be committing suicide. But then, it wouldn’t be the first time.
