Four inexpensive laundry hacks including a little-known way to revive dingy whites and make ‘stains disappear’
YOU don’t have to wash your whites on a high temperature to make them bright again.
Chantel Mila, an interior stylist shared her tips to improve the smell and overall condition of clothes.
Chantel (@mama_mila_au) boasts almost 87,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she shares home inspiration.
She went viral on the video-sharing platform when she shared her laundry day “secrets”.
The video began with her squirting clove oil onto a stick of chalk which she then suggested was a good hack to prevent mould.
When the chalk is placed inside wardrobes it apparently absorbs moisture.
Chantel also revealed the colour of clothes can be easily restored using items that people may already have in their homes.
“Remove tough oil stains with dishwashing liquid and baking soda,” she said.
“Wash as usual and the stains disappear.
“Revive dingy whites by soaking them in denture tablets.”
As for her hacks to dry wet washing quicker…Chantel recommended placing a dry towel inside your tumble dryer.
“And keep the doors on your washing machine open after use to prevent mould,” she said.
Over 5,000 people liked the video and many viewers took to the comment section thanking her for sharing them.
One commenter said their clothes don’t have a “wet” smell since they began keeping their washing machine open after use.
Others were most impressed by the tips for restoring the appearance of clothes.
“Thank you for that, I’ve been wracking my head on how to get rid of that type of stain,” one person said.
If you don’t want to use a tumble dryer, one woman has shared her way of drying clothes without taking up too much space.
Maria’s husband built her a traditional Victorian pulley system that hangs over her staircase.
She is able to lower it, add her clothes to the rails and hoist it up to the ceiling.
