'I have a surprise for you': Dodgers fan proposes to Yankees fan at World Series
LOS ANGELES (PIX11)—They say love conquers all, and that seemed to be the case Friday afternoon as two lovebirds set aside their differences at Dodger Stadium.
A Los Angeles Dodgers fan proposed to his fiancé – a New York Yankees fan.
The special moment was captured live on air as KTLA reporter Kimberly Cheng interviewed the couple wearing opposing jerseys outside the MLB stadium where game one of the 2024 World Series occurred.
"We gave up our ceremony in February to come here to the World Series," the man, a Dodgers fan, said on air.
He continued.
"I have a surprise for you," he says. His fiance looks at him, visibly puzzled.
The Los Angeles Dodger fan pulled out a ring, got on one knee, and presented it to his fiance.
His fiance, a Yankees fan, said yes.
A crowd surrounding the couple starts chanting and screaming congratulations.
"When is this ever going to happen again," she said, smiling and talking to Cheng.
"Congratulations! Oh my goodness, what a special moment," KTLA's Kimberly Cheng said.
The Texas couple was originally set to marry in February but decided to postpone their celebration and attend the 2024 World Series instead.
As far as the opposing team goes, the love and solidarity did not last long. A Los Angeles Dodgers fan couldn't contain her excitement and screamed, "Let's go, Dodgers."
