LIST: Celebrities participating in relief efforts for Kristine victims
MANILA, Philippines – Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami), the Philippines’ 11th tropical cyclone this year, has affected millions of Filipinos in most of Luzon and Visayas, as well as some parts of Mindanao, with Bicol region and Batangas among the hardest-hit areas.
With this, numerous celebrities and prominent personalities have started their own initiatives to extend help to those who continue to grapple with the effects of the severe tropical storm.
UNIS
At a press conference on Thursday, October 24, K-pop girl group UNIS announced that a portion of the ticket sales from their UNIS in CURIOUSland fan concert will be donated to Kristine victims. The two-night show will be held in Manila on October 25 and in Cebu on October 26.
“As UNIS, we are praying and hoping that you guys and your loved ones are safe and sound. And we hope that you find strength and resilience. Just know that help is on the way and we hope that you guys stay safe,” Elisia, one of the group’s Filipino members, said.
Donny Pangilinan
Can’t Buy Me Love actor Donny Pangilinan visited the headquarters of Angat Buhay, the nongovernment organization (NGO) founded by former vice president Leni Robredo, to drop off his donations on Thursday.
“Maraming salamat sa walang sawang pakikipagbayanihan, Donny (Thank you very much for the tireless help for our countrymen, Donny)!” the NGO wrote.
Captivating Katkat
On the same day, Drag Race PH season 2 winner Captivating Katkat also personally handed over her donations for the storm’s victims at the Angat Buhay office.

BINI
P-pop girl group BINI, in partnership with their fanbase, BLOOM PHILIPPINES, launched a “BINIyanihan” donation drive, where they collect cash and in-kind donations for distribution to those in Bicol and Calabarzon.

The eight-member girl group is also participating in Tulong-Tulong Hanggang Dulo, an online fundraiser with other ABS-CBN artists and reporters, on Friday, October 25.
During the same event, they announced they will be donating P1 million of their revenue from their Grand BINIverse concert, which will be held from November 16 to 18.
Arthur Nery
OPM artist Arthur Nery, whose concert is happening on Friday evening at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, announced he will be putting up donation boxes at the venue’s entrance, where people can donate cash or in-kind. He added that he will also be selling some of his outfits and other belongings online while the concert is happening, for the benefit of those affected by the storm.
“We are reaching out to and hopefully collaborating with other donation drives to ensure that help is sent to the ones in need. I will be performing tonight at the Big Dome, but my heart and mind will be with those who can’t show up. We will hopefully see each other under brighter circumstances,” he wrote on Instagram. – Rappler.com
