How to watch World Series Game 1: Yankees vs. Dodgers free live stream, TV channel info
This 2024 World Series has it all.
It has the history and the star power on Major League Baseball’s biggest stage.
It will have the likely MVPs in both leagues this season in Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, along with other MVPs Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Giancarlo Stanton. This means it will be the most MVPs playing in the World Series in MLB history.
The two likely MVPs will contribute to the power we will likely see in the series. Judge hit 58 home runs this season and Ohtani hit 54. This will be the first World Series between two players who each hit at least 50 home runs in that year’s regular season.
With all of this talent on the field, it’s hard not to wonder how many future Hall of Famers we will be watching in this World Series.

Friday marks the first time the Yankees and Dodgers have played each other in the World Series since 1981. This will be the 12th time these two franchises have played one another in the World Series, five more than any other matchup. Dodgers vs. Yankees have given baseball some of its most iconic World Series moments. Jackie Robinson stealing home in Game 1 in 1955. Don Larsen throwing a perfect game in Game 5 in 1956. And, of course, Reggie Jackson hitting three home runs in the Game 6 clincher in 1977.
It will be important for the Yankees to save their bullpen arms in a long series against the Dodgers, so any extra length their starters can give will go a long way. The same goes for the Dodgers, who will likely have at least one game in the World Series be a bullpen game.
Gerrit Cole will set the tone for the Yankees pitching staff in Game 1. He’s 1-0 so far this postseason with three starts. In his last outing in the ALCS against the Indians he allowed two runs on six hits in 4.1 innings. The Dodgers will go with Jack Flaherty in Game 1. It was a surprise to many, who expected Yoshinobu Yamamoto or Walker Buehler to get the nod. What has made the decision so perplexing to some is that he got shelled in his last start in the NLCS. Flaherty allowed eight earned runs on eight hits and four walks over just three innings against the Mets.
Giancarlo Stanton is a big reason why the Yankees beat the Guardians in the ALCS. He hit game-changing blasts on back-to-back days in the ALCS, won MVP for the series, passed Babe Ruth in career postseason home runs (16) and has a 1.019 career postseason OPS. He also has 10 home runs and 26 RBIs in 25 games at Dodger Stadium.
Shohei Ohtani has been close to unstoppable in his first taste of the playoffs. After becoming the first 50-50 player in baseball history, Ohtani is 18-for-his-last-23 with runners in scoring position.
Who will get an early lead in this titanic World Series clash? Tune in on Friday to find out.
