MAN v Food star Adam Richman says his entire crew has been robbed with their production van “completely cleaned out” by a thief.
The food presenter, 50, reported that he and his team lost valuables including a laptop, medications and items with sentimental value.
The Brooklyn-born competitive eater was visiting the UK to film series two of Adam Richman Eats Britain when the crew stopped at a Welcome Break service station on the M1.
He wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Well – the entire crew of season two of Adam Richman Eats Britain has just been robbed.
“We were driving from Birmingham to London, stopped at a rest, stop in Barnet for exactly 4 1/2 minutes to use the restroom, and came back to our van completely cleaned out. All of the filming equipment is gone.
“Both of my suitcases with all of my possessions are gone. Backpack with my laptop and all of my medications are gone. And to make matters worse, because I have trackers on some of my possessions, and because of my laptop, I can see where these things are.
“But we have to wait here for the police. The rest stop won’t release the security footage until the police arrive. It’s been almost an hour.”
In another post, Richman said that along with his laptop he had also lost “the two most valuable possessions I have with me, the last birthday card I ever got from my father and a book that my mother gave me.”
After viewing the footage, Richman wrote that it appeared to be the work of “a single suspect, wearing a grey hoodie” and “driving a Silver Ford“.
Richman went on to share some of the locations where his possessions seemed to be, and offered a reward for anything found.
However, he later said that he had been asked to stop sharing locations by the Metropolitan Police.
The TV star later warned his followers that they should not actually attempt to find the items or become personally involved.
Richman wrote on X: “Everyone! Please do not attempt to personally intervene or find my items yourselves.
“I don’t want any harm to come to anyone!”
He then tagged the Metropolitan Police account and announced he would no longer be updating the location on Twitter “as you asked”, referring to the force.
Richman shot to fame taking on eating challenges for Man v. Food, which premiered in 2008 and ran for four seasons.
He became the 29th member of the Acme Hall of Fame by eating 180 oysters in an hour, though he says it has put him off the seafood since.
Adam Richman Eats Britain focuses on typically British dishes such as Yorkshire Puddings, Whitstable oysters and Eton Mess.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 14:49hrs on Wednesday, 23 October following reports of a theft from a van at London Gateway Services on the M1.
“Items including cameras and laptops were stolen. Officers are continuing enquiries. No arrests have been made at this stage.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD4451/23OCT.”
