E. Coli Outbreak Linked to McDonald’s, But Not Trump
Two days after Donald Trump’s McDonald’s stunt, the CDC launched an investigation into an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. As of Tuesday, the CDC reported 49 confirmed cases and one fatality.
“Does anyone else find the timing of this off, considering Trump just went to McDonald’s… no?” One user on X posted.

Conservative talk show host Andrew Wilkow also posted on X, “It’s a little weird that Donald Trump does a campaign appearance at a McDonald’s and wouldn’t you know they have a system wide E. Coli outbreak.”
McDonald’s became aware of the potential outbreak last week and cooperated with the CDC, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Drug Administration, it said. The fast-food chain has since temporarily removed the hamburgers from restaurants in impacted areas.
“The initial findings from the investigation indicate that a subset of illnesses may be linked to slivered onions used in the Quarter Pounder and sourced by a single supplier that serves three distribution centers,” McDonald’s statement reads. The CDC reported that slivered onions and quarter-pound beef patties will be pulled from McDonald’s menus in several states until the source of illness is confirmed.
The McDonald’s franchise where Trump cooked french fries and served drive-thru orders was trashed on Yelp, which caused Yelp to disable the review option. While rave reviews on the chain poured in from Trump supporters, Trump’s opponents gave the franchise 1-star reviews criticizing Trump that were unrelated to the food service at the location.
“Warning, do not eat at this location. The franchisee is a known cult 45 member only to do a photo op with a convicted felon on premises. What a terrible decision. I hope no one ever patronizes your establishment ever again,” Bill N. from Tarpon Springs, Florida, wrote.
Trump’s political stunt at McDonald’s received extensive publicity from both sides of the aisle. While Trump supporters recognize Trump’s service as a poke at Kamala Harris for not working at McDonald’s, the Left is admonishing Trump for his stunt as an ironic “photo-op” mocking the working class.
