Liam Payne’s close pal reveals final messages singer sent her just hours before he fell from Buenos Aires hotel balcony
A CLOSE friend of Liam Payne has revealed the final messages he sent her in the hours before his tragic death.
The One Direction star sent his pal Jodie a picture of him in his hotel in Argentina and spoke to her just hours before he fell to his death.
Liam, 31, messaged Jodie on Monday and asked her what she was doing, to which she said she was at a gym with her son.
The singer replied “nice” before sharing a snap of him on the bed in his hotel room with a hand pressed to his forehead.
She replied “Sorry just home x.”
On Wednesday morning, just hours before his death, Liam messaged again and asked if she was awake.
Jodie later replied around 8am and the pair messaged back and forth as he told her he was “chilling” in Argentina.
Liam was in Buenos Aires for his ex-bandmate Niall Horan’s tour when he died after falling from his third floor hotel balcony on Wednesday afternoon.
His autopsy revealed the star suffered severe injuries that led to “internal and external haemorrhaging”.
Emergency services confirmed he died instantly from multiple injuries including a fractured skull.

Jodie told Sky News: “I’m really close to Liam, we’ve been friends for years and he was away yesterday in Argentina and I think he just wanted to touch base and check I was okay, see how everyone was back at home.
“We speak near enough every day and have done for years. Obviously he’s always been there at times I’ve needed him even though he’s not local.”
Speaking about his state of mind on the day he died, Jodie said: “He was looking forward to his day, he said he was having a chill, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“He’s always somewhere more glamorous than we are so LA, Argentina, I have to look at the time difference to see where he is, he usually texts me and it’s the middle of our night.
“He seemed fine, he looked happy, he looked healthy – no reason for any kind of concern and then obviously I heard it on the news.”
Jodie said she “couldn’t believe” the news of his death when it broke late Wednesday night.
She explained: “I thought it was fake news, I tried to phone him. Obviously he wasn’t answering.
“I tried to text him, it wasn’t going to a ‘read’ message – normally it does quite quickly, then as I turned the telly on it was getting more and more apparent it wasn’t fake.”
Jodie then texted Liam, saying: “Please tell me this isn’t true!”
“It’s a wicked waste of a life, he had a future ahead of him,” she added.
“It’s a real tragedy not only for us as friends and family but the whole world who know him as a celebrity and a pop singer.
“Obviously he’s got a very supportive mum and dad, his two sisters, I know he speaks very highly of Cheryl [Tweedy], he’s got a girlfriend… he’s got enough people to reach out to and he would have.
“He’s always got help if he needed it but as far as I’m concerned he was in a good place with everything going on in his personal life and his career as well, he had new things on the horizon on the telly and he seemed happy.”
The former One Director member was said to be “behaving erratically” shortly before his death with witnesses claiming he had to be carried back to his room.
Argentinian cops said they were called to the hotel on Wednesday after staff reported an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.
Witnesses at the hotel reported Liam smashed his laptop and he had even had to be carried back to his room,
The hotel’s head of reception made two frantic calls to emergency services and can be heard saying: “We have a guest who is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.
“They must be in a room that has a balcony. And well, we’re a little bit worried he’ll do something, that he’ll put his life at risk.”

Hotel manager: “We have a guest drunk with drugs and alcohol. When he [them, gender not clear in conversation] is conscious, he is breaking everything in the room.”
911 operator: “You said alcohol and drugs…”

Hotel manager: “Costa Rica 6032.”

Hotel manager: “CasaSur Palermo. We need to send someone with urgency because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger because he is in a room with balcony, and we are afraid he could do something that threatens life.”
911 operator: “How long has he been there? Is it a long-stay hotel?”
Hotel manager: “(The guest) has been for the past three days.”
911 operator: “You don’t any other information because you can’t get in. Right?”
Hotel manager: “No.”
911 operator: “We are also notifying SAME (Medical Emergency Attention Service).”
Hotel manager: “We are asking to send someone with urgency because…”
911 operator: “We are doing that. Any other data to give me. Who are you?”
Hotel manager: “I’m the desk manager.”
911 operator: “Person in charge of the place.”

Hotel manager: “Because as you said he is under the influence of alcohol and drugs, SAME personnel can’t enter alone.”
