Trajan Langdon Update!
How is Detroit’s new G.M. doing so far?
We haven’t seen a whole lot of news about Duke great Trajan Langdon since he took over as Detroit’s general manager, but here’s a bit of praise.
Langdon inherited an awful team. Detroit finished 14-68 and were not a team that anyone worried about.
Not that there’s not some talent.
Cade Cunningham is good, and a lot of the players are quite young. Ausar Thompson is promising, Ron Holland made a big impression on many in his pre-draft workouts and Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, though undersized, have had their moments inside.
And of course Brotherhood members Wendell Moore is on the roster as well.
In the article mentioned, Langdon gets praised for not giving up on Duren or Jaden Ivey. Duren is just 20 and Ivey 22.
The writer could have mentioned other young players like, well Moore for instance. No matter though: the basic point is that the Pistons have a very solid athletic core with Cunningham, Thompson and Holland. Those are the guys that Langdon will ultimately build around. Figuring out who fits is smart.
There’s plenty of time to see which young players grow, and the draft next season is very promising. For instance, three of the top picks in next June’s draft likely to be Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey and VJ Edgecombe. Khaman Maluach may be in the draft too, and he could solve some other problems.
The draft is a crap shoot but Detroit is still likely to walk away with an upgrade.
