Hornsea Volunteer Workday #TPTonTour
On Wednesday 3rd July, Hannah and Robert set off to Hornsea to join East Riding volunteers in clearing up a section of the Trail, Marlborough Avenue. Despite the rainy forecast, luck was on their side, and the weather held up.
The team arrived early for the 10am meet-up, allowing them to scan the Trail and assess the work ahead. The British weather had contributed to the growth of nettles and weeds, encroaching on the Trail’s width.
Lead volunteer Andy, provided a thorough briefing, covering the day’s expectations and safety requirements. The plan was to cut back the nettles and weeds and scrape back the Trail to its original width.
Hannah and Robert got to work, with Hannah using secateurs to chop away the nettles and Robert handling a shovel. The team’s efforts made a significant difference, demonstrating the truth of the saying, “many hands make light work.” They even managed to exceed their initial goals, going a little further than originally planned!
Here’s a few photos from our day:
Thanks to Andy and his wonderful volunteers for their fantastic work on the Trail and the Yorkshire Wolds Way.
