Black Friday always falls on the last Friday in November, directly after the American holiday Thanksgiving, which is the last Thursday in November.
Once only celebrated over the pond in the US, Black Friday is now a global shopping event.
International brands and retailers participate, with many sales lasting through to Cyber Monday.
Will perfume retailers be taking part in Black Friday this year?
Yes! It’s one of the best times to find significant discounts on a wide range of fragrances, from high-end designer brands to popular classics.
Retailers, both online and in-store, typically offer special promotions, bundle deals and free gifts with purchases.
For instance, last year Boots offered weekly Star Gifts with incredible savings on coveted fragrance items, while dedicated perfume retailers like The Perfume Shop and The Fragrance Shop rolled out deals ahead of the main event.

What to expect from perfume Black Friday sales 2024?
For Black Friday 2024, shoppers can expect perfume sales to include substantial discounts on much-loved fragrances of the year.
It’s likely many classic perfumes from major designer brands like Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Calvin Klein and YSL will appear in the sales.

It’s also worth looking out for gift sets as they can offer the best value for money and also feature additional items like fragranced bodycare.
Some retailers will also offer exclusive bundles and limited-edition releases around this time.
Are dupes worth it?
THE Sun asked an independent perfume expert to carry out blind smell tests of popular perfumes and their high street “dupes” to see if the budget versions lived up to the originals.
Noemie Maury is a senior fragrance evaluator who has worked with major fine fragrance and toiletries brands for over a decade.
“High street chains can create perfumes cheaply by buying them from big fragrance manufacturers which grow their own ingredients in-house,” says Noemie.
“Because they use oils from flowers they grow themselves instead of importing ingredients, they save on costs and can create fragrances for high street brands at a discount price.”
It means they can lack the depth and complexity of more expensive brands which use a wide variety of more expensive ingredients.
What was in the perfume sales last year?
Last year, Black Friday shoppers saw impressive discounts across a broad spectrum of fragrances.
Major retailers and online stores like Boots, The Fragrance Shop and Lookfantastic offered deals on designer brands like Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, with markdowns ranging from 20% to 50% off some bottles.
Last year there were significant savings on popular everyday scents like the Sol De Janeiro mists and niche luxury perfumes from brands like Glossier, making it a prime time for fragrance enthusiasts to explore new scent options.
Gift sets for Christmas are always a Black Friday highlight, and last year they were discounted at all price points. So keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks to snap up a few bargains for Christmas gifting.
When is Cyber Monday 2024 and are perfume brands taking part?
Cyber Monday this year is on 2 December and it always falls on the first Monday directly after Black Friday.
Once seen as the online-only counterpart to Black Friday, Cyber Monday has evolved to become an extension of the sale event, with some brands wrapping up their sale on this date.
However, Cyber Monday is no longer ‘the last sale day’ and over the last few years, we have spotted some choosing to extend their deals well into December.
We will have to wait a bit longer to find out exactly what perfume deals will be featured in Cyber Monday deals, but in the meantime, it is worth signing up for your favourite brands’ newsletters and social media.
How much does perfume shipping cost?
Perfume shipping costs vary widely depending on several factors, including the carrier, shipping method, destination and the weight or size of the package.
